Earthquake Iraq Iran border

At least 452 people were killed and thousands injured after a powerful earthquake struck near the border of Iran and Iraq late Sunday.

The earthquake has taken place at a geological point of interest, namely where the Arabian plate slides north-east under the Eurasian plate. This was once a subduction zone, but there is essentially no oceanic crust left. Now there are 2 continental parts in collision. This fault line is called the Zagrofault.
